One of the most important things about our culture at Algo.ai is that we value diversity of thought and backgrounds because we believe it gives us a competitive and creative advantage.

The real strength of a team comes from its diversity in creativity. All people are creative and imaginative in their own ways— embrace and foster your team members’ individual creative thinking to help deliver great experiences and customer satisfaction.

To that end I will be attending VerveCon 2019 a conference for Women Leaders in Tech in Santa Clara, CA next week Tuesday, May 7th.

VerveCon aims to empower women in technology and build a community that helps them in their career path and prepares them to be an impact maker, to solve the real problems, to prepare them to take tough decisions.

I will be giving a talk on the State of Enterprise AI and participating in a Career panel titled Is Mentoring the Be-all and End-all for Career Growth?

Hope to see you there!

Taleb joined the Algomus team in October 2017 as Machine Learning Scientist heading up our R&D department doing research related to computer vision, deep learning, and machine learning. He has a Masters in Computer Vision and a PhD in Machine Learning from France, as well as a Bsc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Syria.

We decided to ask him a few questions so you can get to know him better:

What project have you worked on in the past that really interested you?

“It was when I was a researcher at Northeastern University, where I was working on an image processing and facial analysis software. I was creating algorithms to analyze the human face and understand the features to recommend makeup.”

How would you describe yourself and your work ethic?

“When I enjoy my work, I treat it as a mission. I set goals for all projects, always putting 100% effort and time into everything I do. I work long hours but because I enjoy my work and the work environment here at Algomus is very friendly it does not seem like a job.”

What is the most important lesson you have learned?

“I have learned in this industry it is very important to keep learning. Set aside time every day to learn new skills or eventually you will lack the skills needed to compete. It is important to keep learning new libraries and new programming skills as well as keeping up with current events and technology.”

Outside the office Taleb spends his time Traveling, he has been to over 20 different countries. While traveling he enjoys exploring nature, which gives him the chance to work on his photography. If Taleb is not traveling or exploring nature you can find him keeping fit in the gym or socializing with friends.

A huge thanks to everyone that came out to our first workshop event in Bentonville, AR! We had so much fun doing a Walmart Store 1 walk-thru (did you know there is a Dunkin Donuts inside!!), visiting customers, and holding our first Analytics Edge Workshop at the 21c Hotel.

The Workshop was incredibly well attended and we had some great dialogue with suppliers and others in the community about the potential of AI for business process automation and how easy access to Analytics can give anyone in an organization the opportunity to be strategic in their roles.

We also want to give a big thanks to John Daly of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment for joining us as a guest speaker, it is always inspiring to hear him talk about the transformation they have been able to achieve in such a short time!

We look forward to being back in Bentonville very soon!
